城隍是城池守护神，凡有城池者，就建有城隍庙。北京城内有宣武门外的江南城隍庙，复兴门内的都城隍庙。北京城宛平、大兴也各有城隍庙。这些城隍庙为人们祭祀城隍提供了场所。

Town God was known as the Defensor of the city , where there was a city, Chenghuang Temple was built. There were several Chenghuang Temples such as Jiangnan Chenghuang Temple outside Xuanwu Gate, Du Chenghuang Temple in Fuxing Gate. In addition, there were also Chenghuang Temples in Wanping and Daxing. All of these Chenghuang Temples provided a good place for people to worship the Town God.

农历正月十五，城隍庙有“烧火判儿”的活动。泥像是中空的，在里面点燃火，火舌即从判官的口、耳、鼻、眼及肚脐中冒出。

On lunar January 15th, "Burning Judge Aflame" was also held in Chenghuang Temple. The clay-made judge aflame was empty, lighted up fire inside, then the fire burned out from the mouth, ears, nose, eyes and belly button of the judge aflame.

农历四月二十二，宛平县城隍出巡；农历五月初一，大兴县城隍出巡。农历五月十一日则为都城隍圣诞。都城隍庙庙会从农历五月初一到初十开市，十分热闹。民国初年城隍庙香火仍盛。北伐战争后，此举渐废。

On lunar April 22th, Town God of Wanping County would start a tour of inspection.On lunar May 1st, Town God of Daxing County would start a tour of inspection. On lunar May 11th, it is the birthday of Capital Town God. Du Chenghuang Temple fair started from lunar May 1st to 10th, fairly bustling. at the early time of the Republic of China, Du Chenghuang Temple attracted a large number of pilgrims. Since the Northern Expedition broke out , the custom was gradually abolished.
