北京最著名的回民聚集地主要位于西城区（原宣武区）的牛街一带。牛街礼拜寺是北京历史最为悠久，规模最为宏大的清真古寺。伊斯兰历九月（斋月）结束的次日是开斋节，回族群众从四面八方汇集到这里听教长讲经布道。伊斯兰历十二月十日是古尔邦节，回族群众则聚集在清真寺会礼，举行盛大的仪式和庆祝活动，并宰杀牛、羊。伊斯兰历三月十二日是圣纪节，纪念默罕默德的诞辰，回族群众在这天沐浴、更衣，穿戴整齐，到清真寺礼拜，听阿訇念诵《古兰经》启示，讲述伊斯兰历史和穆罕默德复兴伊斯兰教的丰功伟绩。

The famous Muslim gathering place was located in Niujie Street of Xicheng District(orginal Xuanwu District) in Beijing. Niujie Mosque was the largest Muslim temple with the longest history. In the next day after the end of Islamic calendar September(Ramadan) , all of Muslim worshipers would gather here to listen iman’s sermons.Islamic December 10th is Corban Festival, on that day the Muslim would gather in Mosque for worshiping ceremony and proceed celebration with slaughter of cattle and sheep. Islamic March 12th is Maulud Nabi, the birthday of Mohammad, the Muslim would have a bath, change clothing, dress neatly  dresses, and go to Mosque for worship. Iman would reading to inspire the Muslim, and talk about the Islamic history and Mohammad’s achievements for recovering Islam.
