牛郎织女的爱情故事，一直流传至今。据说，农历七月初七的夜晚，是他们一年一度在“鹊桥”上相会的日子。七夕也叫“乞巧节”，女子们在这天比赛穿针引线，胜者被认为乞得了织女的灵巧和智慧。还有些女子在白天把针投于水中，通过水底的针影来乞巧。此外，女子们还祭拜牛郎和织女，祈祷自己的女红手艺越来越好。
