牛郎织女的爱情故事,一直流传至今。据说,农历七月初七的夜晚,是他们一年一度在“鹊桥”上相会的日子。七夕也叫“乞巧节”,女子们在这天比赛穿针引线,胜者被认为乞得了织女的灵巧和智慧。还有些女子在白天把针投于水中,通过水底的针影来乞巧。此外,女子们还祭拜牛郎和织女,祈祷自己的女红手艺越来越好。


The love story of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid has been passed down until today. According to the legend, the night of lunar July 7th was their annual dating day at "Magpie bridge". Besides, lunar July 7th was also called as "Begging festival", in addition, the girls held a stitching contest, the winner was thought to have smart and wisdom of the Weaving Maid. Furthermore, some girls threw needles into water at daytime, begged by the needle shadow in water. They also worshipped the Cowherd and Weaving Maid to pray for their stitching craft being better and better.
