东岳庙每年都要举行盛大的祭祀活动，尤其是农历三月二十八东岳大帝诞辰日，城中百姓蜂拥于此。祭祀东岳大帝是北京重要的道教民俗。东岳庙是道教正一派在华北地区最大的道观，始建于元朝。东岳庙道教民俗，开始以官方为主导力量，后来逐渐向民间转变，最终形成了以掸尘会为主的民间香会组织。（“掸尘”与“诞辰”谐音）。

Dongyue Temple always held grand worshiping ceremony every year, especially on the birthday of the Great Deity of Mount Tai, on lunar March 28th, the ordinary people in the city gathered here for joining the event.
